Doris Alene (Bryan) Brady

Doris Alene (Bryan) Brady, 88, loving mother and wife passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, due to complications from a traffic accident.

Born on Feb. 7, 1924, in Waycross, Ga., she was a longtime resident. She then moved to Lakeland, Fla. in 2003.

She married Frank Kirkland in 1944 and widowed in April 1945. She married Clyde Brady on Feb. 15, 1947 and was married for 41 years, until his death in 1988.

Doris was a graduate of Waycross High School in 1941 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Waycross. She was a member of Scott Lake Baptist Church in Lakeland. She was active in many church and civic organizations. She was a longtime member of the Junior Women’s Club and a district award winner for citizenship in 1959. She was also chairman of the March of Dimes activities for the Junior Women’s Club.

Mrs. Brady is preceded in death by a brother Bill Bryan of Bartow, Fla. She is survived by daughters Beth Buhrman (Ansel) of Babson Park, Fla., Susan Whalen (Tracy) of Lakeland, Fla., grandson Brady Whalen of Gainesville, Fla., and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

A viewing is Tuesday Aug. 28 from 5-6 p.m. at Scott Lake Baptist Church in Lakeland with a funeral service to follow.

A graveside service is in Waycross, Ga. on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Oakland Cemetery at 3 p.m.
