Charles D. “Papa Chuck” Daly, 81, of Lake Wales peacefully passed away Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012, at his residence due to heart failure.

He was born Aug. 25, 1930, in Webster, N.Y., to the late Ivan and Agnes (McCarthy) Daly, and came here from St. Petersburg in 1957. He was retired from Florida Power, a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and served in the U.S. Coast Guard search and rescue. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed woodworking, golf, traveling, vegetable gardening and being by his fireplace. He was very proud of his Irish heritage.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Daly; daughters, Susan Lawson (Steve) of Winter Haven, Carol Floyd (Bruce) of Lake Wales and Cindy Bianco (Bob) of Orion, Mich.; sons, Tim Daly (Sandy) of Lake Wales, Chris Daly (Christine) of Lake Wales and Rusty Wingate of Babson Park; sister, Sister Mary Agnes of Elmira, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales with Father Antony Bluett. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice, 1110 Hammock Road, Sebring, FL 33870.
