Mary Agnes Crane, 70, of Lake Wales passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at the Lake Wales Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 11, 1941, in Bradford, Pa. to Milton and Mary (Onuffer) Dawley.
She was a member of the Lake Wales Methodist Church, and Lake Wales Chapter NSDAR. Mary was a longtime resident of Cold Spring, N.Y. where she taught business education for 32 years at Peekskill City School. She also taught at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, N.Y., Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y. and Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, N.Y.
She graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, N.Y. with a BS degree and Syracuse University with a MS degree.
Mary was always taking classed to learn new things, including many computer programs. Mary had many hobbies, including volunteering, sewing, needlepoint, cooking, and genealogy. Mary traveled to 46 of the 50 states, almost every country in Europe and South America. While a teacher she sponsored many clubs and activities. She moved to Florida in 2004 to Nalcrest with her husband, William (Bill), a retired letter carrier. Bill’s sister Louise, was Mary’s college roommate at Syracuse University.
Mary is survived by her husband of 45 years, Bill; foster daughter, Rosa Velez of San Antonio, Texas; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from
10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at Marion Nelson Funeral Home in Lake Wales.
Burial will be held at the McKean County Memorial Park in Bradford, Pa.
