Thanks to local Good Samaritan

Dear Editor:

Every day, I find something more to love about the Lake Placid community. Last Wednesday was no exception. On my way to Sebring for an appointment, I was flagged down at a light by a gentleman in a black pickup who told me I had a seriously low tire on my vehicle.

I made a pit stop at the next gas station to get some air in the tires, only to find that I was almost out of luck. Stumbling around in an oversized shoe from my podiatrist, I was going to have trouble getting to the tire to air it up. Then I discovered there was a fee to use the compressor and I was seriously out of coins.

My knight was certainly on hand, not on a white horse, but instead in a white pickup. He told me his name was David and he gallantly produced a dollar’s worth of quarters and proceeded to air my tire.

He refused any payment, so all I could offer was my thanks. Let me tip my hat to Mr. David ... a Southern gentleman who rescued me from a very bad day and reminded me once again why Lake Placid is a great place to live! Thank you again, sir ... I made my appointment on time!
