In response to Don Frodge’s letter in your Sept. 15 edition, Ronald Reagan was quoted by Frodge as saying “The United States does not start fights. We will never be the aggressor.” Unfortunately G.W. Bush rescinded that policy and caused the death of 4,000 Americans and 30,000 additional casualties to our U.S. troops in his and Cheney’s personal war in Iraq! Frodge continues the Republican and Teapoison Party’s lie that our President Obama “tours the world making apologies ... ”
Multiple fact checking sources have attempted to put that lie to rest but the fanatical right wing continues to slander our President.
The so-called “weak, indecisive president” caused bin Ladin’s death ( which a majority of Republicans still will not acknowledge in some regions of the country) whereas George W. Bush said in the past he didn’t care where Bin Ladin was and that he wasn’t an important target.
It is premature as Republicans are wont to say (Romney last Tuesday, the anniversary of 9/11 politically savaging our president is a good example) that we have lost Egypt as an ally. They have cleared the protestors from the area and order has been restored.
“Obama policy of diversity” didn’t cause a deranged major to kill unsuspecting comrades in arms, any more than did George H.W. Bush, who was president when Hasan joined the military, did.
The Obama administration’s response was not one of apology, as Frodge and Romney claimed. Look at the time-line and learn the truth.
The persons who should apologize are Bush and Cheney for their actions in lying their way into starting a fight and being the aggressor contrary to what a true Republican, Reagan was quoted as saying.
