This week is Circle of Friends “Friendship Week,” a week to raise awareness and support for “our friends with developmental disabilities living in our community,” notes Mertice Kelly, in a flyer that is promoting the event.

At a recent Lake Wales City Commission meeting, Mayor Eugene Fultz read a proclamation setting aside the third week of October as Friendship Week.

The Kick Off was Oct. 14 at the Circle of Friends.

The students at the Circle are distributing fliers to raise $25,000. All money goes to the Circle and is tax deductible. There are two teams at the Circle, competing against one another to see who can bring in the most donations. The 2013 Team Red Captain is Erin Brown, and the 2013 Team Blue Captain is Adam Harding.
