The Lake Wales Area Chamber of Commerce’s plan to partner with the city of Lake Wales on economic development was compared with the Lake Wales Charter Schools and how they evolved from a grass roots initiative during the city commission’s meeting Tuesday night.

Mayor Mike Carter said a few years ago some people in Lake Wales were concerned with the public education system in Florida and they took it upon themselves to look into alternatives and came up with the charter school system.
