Lake Wales Arts Council's Barbara Connor hopes to obtain future county grants.
Short of finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow or winning the lottery, non-profit arts organizations are usually pretty strapped for cash. Most agree that the cultural events they produce add greatly to the quality of life in Lake Wales. In addition to tremendous support from generous sponsors, membership and event ticket sales, the Lake Wales Arts Council has high hopes for future funding from Polk County.
“We are grateful that the Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing has been so supportive of our events by providing a number of grants in the past,” said Barb Connor, Council president. “The grant we received for the Citizens Bank and Trust 42nd Annual Lake Wales Art Show on March 23-24 will help make this show the best we’ve ever produced. With the creation of the Tourism Development Council Arts and Culture Committee, we’re optimistic that more funding for the arts will be available in the future.”
