TALLAHASSEE (News Service of Florida) — A Senate committee on Thursday approved a bill that could allow local governments to restrict outdoor smoking at publicly-owned places like beaches, playgrounds and parks. The legislation, if it gets final approval, would also allow local governments to ban smoking at the entrances to public sector workplaces. The measure (SB 258), sponsored by Sen. Rob Bradley, R-Fleming Island, was approved 6-3 by the Senate Health Policy Committee on Thursday. It has one more committee stop on the Senate side before the floor, heading to Community Affairs.
