Perhaps Florida is a bit behind other states as the CEO of the Ocala/Marion County Chamber and Economic Partnership said the merger of chambers of commerce and economic development entities is common around the Southeast.

“In a lot of the Southeast in particular, outside of Florida, economic development and chamber are if not one entity extremely closely tied together,” said Kevin Sheilley, president and CEO of the organization that officially came into being Oct. 1.
