The batter is mixed, the sausages are sizzling and the pancakes are ready to flip. “Get ‘em while they’re hot,” says the Lake Wales Kiwanis. The goal is to grill 4,000 fluffy IHOP pancakes and serve 1,000 pancake lovers at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 644 9th St. in Lake Wales.

The all-you-can eat breakfast of pancakes and sausage, sponsored by IHOP, with orange juice donated by Florida’s Natural, are being served from 7 to 10 a.m. The pancake eating contest will begin at 10 a.m.
