There will be just one race in the municipal election that voters will be casting ballots and that will be for mayor.

Gene Fultz, Jack Van Sickle and Ed Bowlin have qualified for the April 2 election, according to Lake Wales City Clerk Clara VanBlargan. Commissioner Jonathan Thornhill’s term is up this year, but he will retain Seat 2 as there was no opposition for him. VanBlargan said no one picked up candidate packets to represent District 19.
