Angels come to mind when you meet Virginia Davidson. The new director of the Lake Wales Chorale has an angelic look and the gentle touch of an angel as she plays her grand piano. Mounted on the wall behind the piano, cherubs watch over her, completing the scene of serenity.
While others may find it daunting to fill the shoes of former director Gabe Statom, who left the Chorale in 2009 to become director of music for the Second Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Tenn., the 84-year-old pianist, conductor and composer is ready for the Chorale’s first performances of the season on Friday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m.
