Almost $8,000 was raised during the annual Empty Bowls Project hosted by the Lake Wales Care Center on Tuesday night at the downtown Market Place.

More than 70 local artists and community leaders participated.

Jerry Miller of Progress Energy was the auctioneer for the Lake Wales Chamber of Commerce Business-After-Hours Reception and Auction.

There was a live auction and also a silent auction that benefitted the Lake Wales Care Center's hunger relief porgrams.
