Carrie Bilancio, 3rd grade teacher at Spook Hill Elementary, is very proud of her Shining Star Award.
Spook Hill is “Keeping Our Eye on the Ball” through technology. Each year, the Polk County School Board presents its schools with the Shining Star Award. The Shining Star Award began as a project to promote collaboration among technology leaders in Polk County Schools. This year Spook Hill received the 2012 Silver Star Award. The Silver Star Award is presented to those schools who show that their teachers encourage the use of technology in the classroom through student selected tools which facilitate collaborative work, and that learning takes place using technology throughout the curriculum. “We are very proud of this accomplishment and working towards Gold for the 2013 Shining Star Awards,” notes Aly Dort, communication specialist for the school.
