Here, piggy, piggy

Lake Wales Fire Chief Jerry Brown and Lake Wales Police Chief Chris Velasquez hold the pigs they may have to kiss once they reach their goal for raising money for the Guns and Hoses Relay for Life team which donates the funds to the American Cancer Society.
It’s not often (or advisable) that you get the chance to tell your police chief and fire chief to kiss off. Fortunately, Lake Wales Police Chief Christopher Velasquez and Fire Chief Jerry Brown showed what great senses of humor they have during their “first dates” with two little pigs as they kicked off the 2012 “Kiss the Pig” contest. Lake Wales police officers and firefighters compete every year in the Guns and Hoses Relay for Life team to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Money jars will be located at Lake Wales businesses where all values of money donated will be counted as votes. Locations are Beef O’Brady’s, 19598 U.S. Highway 27; Lake Wales Veterinary Hospital, 520 Mountain Lake Cutoff Road; Grand Central Coffee Shop, One Central Ave.; and Studio 300, 122 W. Central Ave. The opponent’s jar will be kept at the police department and fire station. Votes will be accepted until Oct. 27 when the two chiefs will pucker up to the piglets at the Lake Wales Pioneer Festival located on the shores of Lake Wailes.
