A resident doing some land clearing called to advise he was burning to clear land inside his fence line, and the fire got out of control, according to Brad Ruhmann, Polk County Fire Rescue public information officer.
The fire, which occurred after 2 p.m. at 3229 Genesis Point Drive on Labor Day afternoon, involved about 20 acres, but the Polk County Fire Rescue and the Division of Forestry Services had the fire entirely contained by 3 p.m.
