Smooth sailing on first day of school

Hundreds of students packed the hallways Monday afternoon after school dismissed at Lake Wales High School. Some are car riders, some ride the bus, others walk home and still others drive their own vehicles to school.

Cars line up to retrieve students after school Monday at Lake Wales High School. While this may look like a momentary traffic jam, it's not, according to school officials, who say there aren't very many students who are picked up from school in the car rider line.
The first day of school was smooth sailing, according to the Lake Wales Charter School principals.
Giving first day reports at Monday’s LWCS work session, administrators said good attendance and behavior were the norm. Additionally, two thorny issues, transportation and food service, have apparently been resolved.
