Steering Committee named for community project

Conversations were animated and suggestions many at the organizational meeting sponsored by Unity in Community and other groups to address the issue of limited opportunities for local youth and the impact of that issue on the community. A steering committee has now been formed to work out some concrete plans and ideas, which will then go back to the larger group.
A steering committee has been assembled to brain-storm concrete ideas and for advancing the community opportunity project discussed last month at Lake Wales High School.
The meeting at LWHS, focused on improving opportunities for young people in Lake Wales and improving the community environment, brought out a large group of about 60 people. Howard Kay, a Unity in Community member and one of the events organizers, said the original group will be the task force, with the smaller subgroup designated the steering committee.
