The Lake Wales Police Department has terminated its only black female officer, claiming that she used force improperly, is insubordinate and has violated department policy, according to a memorandum.

In the memorandum dated July 14 to Tameka O’Neal, Lake Wales Police Chief Chris Velasquez said it “serves as your notice of termination of your probationary employment with the city of Lake Wales Police Department.”
