PINELLAS PARK (AP) — A southwest Florida man is recovering from serious injuries after falling 40-feet from a bridge.

Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies said 31-year-old Joseph Schleg was fishing on a bridge near Pinellas Park late Friday night. He apparently did not see an opening along the bridge catwalk and fell head first onto the concrete below.

Schleg was airlifted to the hospital and treated for a skull fracture and long bone fractures.

The incident appears to be an accident.
