Debby spawns tornadoes, rain

Sunday afternoon found Polk County residents watching, warning, and trying to stay out of the way of a most unfriendly visitor: Tropical Storm Debby.

Blamed for numerous vehicle accidents, downed power lines, scattered signs, ripped billboards and to date, several homes said to have been damaged or destroyed, the storm as the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration website said, “does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.”
