Correcting a typo in the telecommunications service contract with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office gave the Lake Wales City Commission an opportunity to discuss — and be critical — of the dispatch system for nonemergency calls during Tuesday night’s meeting.

The city contracted with the sheriff’s office for the service in 2007 — five years ago. Lake Wales pays more than $200,000 a year for it.
