College scholarships incentive for fifth graders

Jasmine Garcia, a fifth grader at Janie Howard Wilson Elementary School, recently learned that she was one of the lucky fifth graders to win a Fancelli Family Scholarship, paying for her first two years at Polk State College. One fifth grader from each school has been chosen for the scholarship every year since 2001.
Jasmine Garcia is an award-winning kid. To be specific, she won the Presidential Award, a Safety Patrol Award, a Science Award, and the Tropicana Speech Award. What bowled impressed her Mom and grandmother, however, was the announcement that Jasmine’s first two years of college is paid for, thanks to the Fancelli Family Scholarship, awarded to one fifth grader in each Polk County public school.
Jasmine’s grandmother, Esmerelda, called The Lake Wales News last week with the exciting news. Jasmine and her family were interviewed, then the News learned that three additional fifth graders in Lake Wales had been similarly honored.
