SPCA offers free dental exams

In recognition of the Pet Dental Health Month, SPCA’s McClurg Animal Medical Center is offering free dental examinations during February. The exams, valued at $28, include a veterinarian dental needs assessment and treatment recommendations. If customers schedule a professional dental cleaning during February they can also receive their complimentary choice of select dental preventatives while supplies last. Choices include: oral rinse, tooth brush kits, tartar control chews and water additives, which help prevent plaque build up.

While most pets’ bad breath is caused by bacteria build up, their oral health is important to monitor given it can indicate more serious medical problems like heart disease and kidney failure. To promote good dental health, the SPCA recommends feeding pets high-quality, easy-to-digest food; frequently brushing dogs teeth with an approved canine toothpaste; giving them healthy treats aimed at preventing tartar and plaque build-up; and schedule annual professional cleanings.

For more information on pet dental health or to book a free dental examination call the SPCA McClurg Animal Medical Center at (863) 646-7722.
