Highlands County Sheriff’s Deputy Ken Jorgensen was presented the Deputy of the Year Award from Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4300 during a Tuesday, March 5 meeting of the Highlands County Board of County Commissioners.
Deputy Jorgensen was nominated for the award by his supervisor, Lt. Sean Casey, who wrote in his letter of nomination that Deputy Jorgensen joined the HCSO in 2010 following a stint as a Trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol. This previous experience made Jorgensen especially valuable in the areas of traffic enforcement and traffic crash investigations. During his employment with the sheriff’s office Jorgensen has assisted other deputies in completing traffic crash forms and helped streamline paperwork related to Driving Under the Influence arrests.
