Heartland for Children and the Lake Placid Police Department conducted their first child safety seat inspection event Friday. The event was sponsored by State Farm Insurance.

Prior to the event, those wishing to receive free car seats were asked to call Heartland for Children representative Jennifer Sweet who would set up an appointment to properly fit the seats to the vehicle. Over the course of Friday’s event, 34 seats were given to drivers needing proper child safety seats.

“I am proud to see the commitment to children’s safety from Heartland for Children, Jennifer Sweet, Sergeant Mark Schneider, Officer Heather Mulligan, and Michelle Yates of State Farm Insurance,” Sweet said. “This is a great program that helps many families in need of good quality children’s safety seats.”

Information on a second event will be released as soon as a date is set. Those involved are aiming for a November/December event.

Anyone interested in the next child safety seat event can contact Officer Heather Mulligan, or Sergeant Mark Schneider at 863-699-3757.
