A bit of Mardi Gras comes to Lake Placid this weekend with the 2013 Miss Lake Placid and Junior Miss Lake Placid pageants Saturday at Lake Placid High School. Eight girls will compete for the title of Miss Junior Lake Placid and 10 young ladies will compete in the Miss Lake Placid pageant at 7 p.m.

Competing for the title of Miss Lake Placid are Jackie Alonso, daughter of Luis and Jacqueline Alonso; Missy Barajas, daughter of Rene and Elvia Barajas; Sonia Becerra, daughter of Jose and Eva Becerra; Laura Candletta, grandaughter of Jane Price; Christian Crawford, daughter of Steve and Lynn Shummard and the Late Vincent Crawford; Tiffanie Cummins, daughter of Phillip and April Cummins; Brisia Fonseca, daughter of Jesus and Nora Fonseca; Brandy McMahon, whose guardians are Steve and Dana Phypers, Kaeli Spurlock, daughter of Ray and Kelly Spurlock; and Gabriela Valdovinos, daughter of Jose and Silva Valdovinos.
