The Lake Placid Noon Rotary Club donated $100 to the Lake Placid Historical Society and its Depot Museum at a meeting on Thursday, Dec. 20. Kay Tarr, museum director, accepted the donation. The museum is hosting a traveling display January 24 through February 16 titled “We Were Here” which depicts early travels.
Before the Historical Society was founded in 1982, Lake Placid historical items were sent up to the Sebring museum. The former Atlantic Coast Line Railroad depot now houses the Lake Placid Historical Society museum. The station was build in 1926 and served passengers until the mid-1950’s. Freight trains continue to use the line.
