Charles W. “Charlie” Warner Jones, 84, of Lake Wales passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at Grace Health Care.
He was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Van Buren, Iowa, to the late Paul D. and Jane L. (Sprouse) Jones and has been a resident of the area since 1967.
He was a retired Diesel Mechanic.
Charlie loved Lake Wales Little League he coached for many years. He liked writing western books, loved singing and cooking. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army and attended the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Ginger Jones of Vero Beach, Patricia Jones of Vero Beach, Gail Douglas of Orlando; sons, Eddie Jones of Panama City, Mike Jones of Panama City, Sam Jones of Kenansville, Fla., Chuck Jones of Austin, Texas; sisters, Joan Quick of Patoka, Ill., Susie McKinley of Kentucky; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amber Jones.
Memorial Service is 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Impact Church (formerly First Assembly of God) with Rev. Walter Nelson officiating.
