TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is suing four central Florida timeshare resale companies.

Bondi’s office contends the companies violated the state’s deceptive and unfair trade law.

The lawsuits allege that the companies acted as telemarketers and used false promises to get consumers to pay anywhere between $400 and $2,500 in up-front fees for advertising services to sell or rent their timeshares.

The companies listed in the lawsuits are A1 Marketing Unlimited, Access Travel Network, Inc., International Timeshare Exchange/Network, and Travel Buy Owner/CFL Ventures.

Bondi’s office has gotten court orders to stop two companies from participating in any further timeshare resale activities. The attorney general also got orders to freeze the companies’ assets.

There were about 3,700 complaints against timeshare resale companies last year.
