William B. "Bill" Andrews

William B. “Bill” Andrews, 75, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale.

Born Dec. 5, 1937, in Umatilla, he was the son of the late Harry and Nora Andrews.

Bill served in the U.S. Air Force and was a longtime member of the American Legion Post #3 in Bartow and the Masonic Tuscan Lodge #6 in Bartow.

Mr. Andrews worked in radio for many years. Along with his brother, he started and built a radio station in Boynton Beach. He worked in radio in Eustis and then came to Bartow to work as a radio announcer for WWBF. He ran “The Shopper” for WWBF for many years. Mr. Andrews, more recently, retired from The Polk County Democrat in Bartow where he worked in advertising sales.

During retirement Bill worked as a driver for Greenwood Chevrolet in Fort Meade.

He attended the Vineyard Church of God in Bartow.

Mr. Andrews is survived by a loving family that includes his wife of 33 years, Evelyn M. Andrews of Bartow; three daughters, Sheila Harrison (Glenn) of Bartow, Tina Hill (David) of Bartow, Tracy Kilmer of Pflugerville, Texas; four sons, Wade Andrews also of Pflugerville, Texas, Bryan Hearn of Bartow, Terry Hearn of Bartow, and Clint Andrews (Cynthia) of Austin, Texas. Bill also leaves behind his brother, Tom Andrews (Ellen) of Ormand Beach, his sister, Alice Harden of Orlando and six grandchildren, Christopher Andrews, Matthew Harrison, Vinnie Kilmer, Meagan Harrison, Daniel Kilmer, and Charlie Kilmer.

Arrangements are being handled by Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.

Visitation for family and friends is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 19.

Funeral services for Mr. Andrews will follow at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 20 at the Vineyard Church of God, 490 E. Vine St., Bartow.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale or Vineyard Church of God in Bartow.
