Edith Lorraine Barwick
Mrs. Edith Lorraine Barwick, 85, passed away Wednessday, Feb. 27, 2013, in Zephyrhills, Fla., of heart failure.
Mrs. Barwick was born in Bartow, Fla., and moved to Fort Meade in 1956.
She was a homemaker and member of the Cornerstone Church of God in Fort Meade.
Along with raising her own family, Mrs. Barwick and her husband were foster parents to several children for nearly 25 years. She helped raise many children in Fort Meade, and was known as a great cook, seamstress, and keeping her home immaculate for her family and friends to enjoy.
Mrs. Barwick was preceded in death
by her husband, N.W. Barwick, on
Nov. 9, 2009.
She is survived by her sons, J.N. Barwick, Zephyrhills, Fla., Donald M. Barwick, Moultrie, Ga., J. Larry Barwick, Fort Meade, Fla., Steven A. Barwick, Lakeland, Fla., and Christopher Lynn Barwick, Tallahassee, Fla.; brothers, Wayne Whitehurst, Bartow, Fla., and Warren Whitehurst, Winter Haven, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at Hancock Funeral Home, 945 E. Broadway, Fort Meade.
Funeral service is 2 p.m., Sunday, March 3, 2013, in the Hancock Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Whitener and Rev. Bill Martin officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Meade.
