Erik Jeffery Mount, 36, of Sturgis, Mich., left this life Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, from the Bronson Methodist Hospital Cardiac Critical Care Unit in Kalamazoo, Mich., to be with his loving Lord.

He was born Dec. 21, 1976, in Sturgis, Mich., son of Lamar and Beverly (Johnson) Mount.

Erik resided in Casa Grande, Ariz., and Sturgis most of his life.

He was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1995 where he excelled as an outstanding member of the varsity football team playing both offensively and defensively.

He was a talented welder by trade and enjoyed football, a sport he began participating in at age 8. Erik loved reading his Bible and cherished time spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie L. (Toulson) Mount, whom he married in White Pigeon; two daughters, Sydney Mount and Callie Mount both at home; one son, Elijah Mount at home; parents, Lamar and Beverly Mount of Sturgis; brothers, Lamar T. Mount, Jr. of Warsaw, Ind., Ronnie E. Mount of Lakeland, Fla., and L. Keith Mount of Bartow, Fla.; one sister, W. Faye Rogers of Bartow, Fla.; grandmother, Florence Jean Redfield of Wallingford, Conn.; aunt, Wendy N. Whitney of Wallingford; uncle, Julius F. Mount of Greenville, Ala.; godmother, Donna M. Murowski of Wallingford; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends from
1-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes, Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, Mich.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Erik Mount will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene, 70031 S. Lakeview Ave., Sturgis. The Rev. Ross Gerber of Grace Christian Fellowship Church will officiate.

A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
