Rodney denies extension reports

PORT CHARLOTTE — Rays’ closer Fernando Rodney cleared up some confusion Wednesday when he said he had not gone through any contract negotiations with the Rays.
El Dia, a newspaper in the Dominican Republic, reported in January that Rodney had said he was close to a contract extension with the club.
