William J. Tibert Jr.

William J. “Bill” Tibert Jr., 84, of Englewood, Fla., passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013.

He was born Dec. 10, 1928, in Boston, Mass.

Bill was a proud World War II U.S. Navy veteran. In his younger days, Bill was very active in the Catholic Church and in town politics, where he resided in Massachusetts. He was a hard worker and became quite successful, as a salesman and later as a small-business owner. Bill had a great sense of fun. In Tangerine Woods Retirement Community, he was cribbage champion for a few years, and also took part in their semi-annual shows with the line dancers. He was a good family man, father, stepfather, grandfather and great-grandfather. Bill will be missed by many family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Irene H. (nee McDonough); children, William J. (Debra) Tibert III of North Andover, Mass., Lawrence S. (Janet) Tibert of Leominster, Mass., Robert J. (Kimberly) Tibert, Kathleen M. Karalfa and Michael D. (Robyn) Tibert, all of Rockport, Mass., and Mark S. (Brenda) Tibert of Huntersville, N.C.; stepchildren, Matthew A. (Joan Filler) Evangelista of Ithaca, N.Y., Martha A. (John Sheehan) Evangelista of Peacham, Vt., Amy E. (Housni Merzouk) Maher of Waltham, Mass., Elisa A (T.J.) Morton of Lynchburg, Va., and Madeline M. Maher of Ithaca; brother, James L. (Bette-Lou) Tibert of Englewood; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to League of St. Anthony, St. Lawrence Seminary, 301 Church St., Mount Calvary, WI 53057-0505.

Arrangements are by National Cremation Society of Port Charlotte, Fla.
