Gilbert Arnold Ross

Gilbert Arnold Ross, 81, of Englewood, Fla., and Newberry, Mich., and formerly of Wayland, Mich., passed away Friday, March 8, 2013.

He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Grand Rapids, Mich., to Arnold Ross and Eleanor Harding.

Mr. Ross has been a winter resident since 1997. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. Gilbert was a Lifetime Member of American Legion Post 127 in Dorr, Mich. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, four-wheeling, golfing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Hazel; sons, Jeff Ross of Pine Stump Junction, Mich., Gerald Ross of Marietta, Okla., and Lawrence (Liz) Ross of Wayland; sister, Cheryl Tiller of Tennessee; brother, Arlyn Ross of Kentucky; sister- and brothers-in-law, Angie and Ralph Fitzner of Michigan, and Clarence and Evie Cameron of Florida; special close friends, Greg and Michelle Powell, and Rick and Sue Jensen; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Englewood Community Funeral Home Inc., 3070 S. McCall Road, Englewood. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr. Ross’s name to Dorr American Legion Post 127, 4310 18th St., Dorr, MI 49323.

Arrangements are by Englewood Community Funeral Home.
