Robert W. Morse passed away peacefully at home on November 28th after a valiant battle against brain cancer.

Robert was a Captain in the US Army Signal Corps. He was an expert marksman and won numerous trophies and medals while representing his company on the Army Pistol Team. Later in life he enjoyed competing in pistol matches at the Senior Games in Florida. Bob was active in the Norwich University Alumni Association, community affairs in Englewood, and served on the board of his homeowners association for many years, participated in the local computer club and the genealogy club. Bob was a member of the Morse Society. Bob showed his love for Norwich University and Stoneham High School by compiling biographies of classmates for their 50th reunion and representing Norwich at high school career fairs in Florida. Norwich reunions were a highlight in his life where he could meet his buddies with whom he enjoyed deeply satisfying lifelong friendships. Bob wrote a book about the Morse Museum in Warren, NH telling stories of African safaris and world travels made by his father and grandfather as they collected curios displayed in the museum for over 60 years. A loving and devoted husband to his wife Bunny for 54 years. Bob is survived by his wife, Beatrice A. (Henderson) Morse, brother Philip M. Morse, Jr., his step sisters Sally Wolfe and Elizabeth Morse, two sons William and Brian, a daughter-in-law Debra, granddaughters Jamie, Erin, Hannah, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and granddogs. Bob is a warm and gentle person with a special gift for dry humor which gave everyone a good laugh. His enduring friendship is cherished by his classmates and friends. Bob rests peacefully with his Lord now, but his spirit lives within all of us who were touched by him. Use his spirit to show kindness to others and turn your sorrow into joy.

A celebration of life will be held on December 9th at 2 Pm at the Englewood United Methodist Church (www.englewoodumc.net) in the Doan Chapel. Lemon Bay Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Englewood Helping Hand, 700 East Dearborn Street, Englewood, Florida 34223.
