Edward L. Woods
Edward L. “Ed” Woods, 68, of McAlpin, Fla., and formerly of Englewood, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, after an extended illness.
He was born Dec. 8, 1943, in Middle River, Md., to Thomas and Clara (nee Stewart) Woods.
Ed was a retired Ironworker out of Local 290 Dayton, Ohio. His passion in life was restoring and racing muscle cars and Harleys. Ed enjoyed NASCAR racing and loved the outdoors, especially elk/deer hunting and fishing the Gulf of Mexico for Tarpon. He will be missed by his many friends, and will remain in our hearts forever.
Ed is survived by his wife of 44 years, Julia; seven children; William (Suchland) of Englewood, Edward (Brenda) Jr. of Gainesville, Fla., Clint (Sara) of North Port, Fla., James of Middletown, Ohio, Sandra Blanton of Middletown, Nina Woods of Germantown, Ohio, and Angela (Brad) Schafer of Middletown; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his only sister, Debra Woods of Middletown. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Stewart; father, Thomas; and only brother, Thomas Haril.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m., with funeral services to follow, Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Lemon Bay Funeral Home. You may express your condolences to the family at www.lemonbayfh.com.
