Appeal denied on
airport tower closure
PUNTA GORDA — Out of 189 smaller-airport control towers slated to be shut down, the Federal Aviation Administration granted appeals for 40 — but the Punta Gorda Airport wasn’t one of them.
That means the FAA could shut the local tower down sometime between April 7 and May 7,
according to a letter that David Grizzle, chief operating officer of the FAA, sent to airport officials Friday.
