SARASOTA COUNTY — Officials from D.R. Horton and Banks Engineering laid out their plans Thursday to the Sarasota County Development Review Committee for a new project that could bring nearly 500 new homes to South County in the next few years.

The community, which would be called Caribbean Village, would be located at the northeast corner of the intersection of River Road and Venice Avenue, across the street from the entrance to the recently reopened Snook Haven Restaurant, and near the Grand Palm development currently being constructed by Neal Communities.
