NORTH PORT — The North Port Lions Club hosted the District Governors Advisory meeting Jan. 28 at the Olde World Restaurant. The five clubs that make up the zone are Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, Englewood, Venice and North Port. Governor of District 35-I (54 clubs), Lion Bob Hilliard, spoke to the area clubs about what is happening at our district level, our multiple district (Florida and the Bahamas) and the international level.

Hilliard began by inducting the North Port Lions Club’s newest member, Robert Alden Miller, in a meaningful ceremony. His sponsor was unable to attend, and membership chair John Kromish and past district governor Penny Gregrich, Global Leadership trainer of District 35-I, stepped up and took the oath of a caring Lion to ensure that he is properly orientated to the Lions’ past history. Miller was then presented with his membership pin, which Gregrich placed on his lapel, and then presented with his certificate of membership.
