Literature came to life for students in Cindy Atherholt’s first-grade class at Myakka River Elementary School after they read a book entitled “The Mitten Tree.”

The book is about a little old woman who knits mittens for all of the children at the bus stop near her home. The children don’t know who the mittens are from. The little old woman continues to knit mittens for the children in the town every year.
