NORTH PORT — As speculation surrounds the future of the Warm Mineral Springs Day Spa, some residents want to see it preserved by the city and county governments. Others hope developing it will bring a hotel, medical facilities, more tourism and other retail opportunities to the area.

However, before any development of the 81-acre Springs can get under way, strict guidelines established in the city of North Port’s Comprehensive Plan must be followed. The plan has been reviewed and approved by the state.
