For Christmas, Girl Scout Junior Troop 165 of Englewood adopted Josh Bowers, a master sergeant in the Army National Guard stationed in Afghanistan. The girls filled a boot stocking with treats including Girl Scouts candies and nuts. Bowers worked as a teacher in Billot, Wis. until he was activated. He is helping build roads and bridges in Afghanistan. “We just got a card from him,” said Troop Leader Beverly Morford. “It’s a very dangerous job because they run bulldozers out in the open. He said it got so dangerous they took his troop off the road building and (moved them to) enlarge some bases.” Girl Scouts pictured here include Leah Josephson, Sarah Colbert, Abagail Parker, Trinity Angelo, Haleigh Vadala and Morford.
