Debi Albrecht of Rescued Hearts animal shelter in Port Charlotte brought Tabitha to be blessed Thursday at the Blessing of the Animals at St. David’s Episcopal Church in Englewood. who needs a good home.

Pat Knox brought Rescue, a baby raccoon to be blessed by Rev. Eric Cooter Thursday at the annual Blessing of the Animals at St. David’s Episcopal Church. Knox is caring for the orphaned raccoon until he can be acclimated to the wild.

ENGLEWOOD — Cisco and Tre stood quietly on the church lawn Thursday as if the two horses visited there every day.

Along with 20 assorted dogs and a lone baby raccoon, the horses seemed only to hear the soothing prayers around them.
