The Florida Highway Patrol reported Andrew Dewayne Louis, 20, of Avon Park, was seriously injured in a motorcycle collision around 12:30 a.m. Saturday. According to the FHP report, Louis was riding a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle by himself southbound on Oak Wood Ave. when, for unknown reasons, the motorcycle collided with a ditch and landed on its left side on the west shoulder of the road. Louis, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered facial injuries and was air-lifted to Lee Memorial Hospital. FHP indicated Louis was cited for a motorcycle endorsement violation. FHP reported the crash is still under investigation and other charges may be filed.
