A word to the wise ... about ‘Sandy’ cars
Recent warnings have been issued regarding the purchase of used vehicles in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. As happened after Hurricane Katrina, many flood- and water-damaged vehicles were sold to unsuspecting buyers because the titles were “clean” but the vehicles were not.
The vehicles are being offered at seemingly bargain prices, but the National Automobile Dealers Association warns that a flood-damaged car is usually a “soggy lemon.” Before you or someone you know considers purchasing one of the more than 200,000 vehicles damaged in Jew Jersey and New York, take the advice of auto insurers, car dealers and AAA.
