Alan W. Hooks, 67, of Arcadia, Fla., died Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 23, 1946, in Bartow, Fla., and had been an Arcadia resident since 1987.
Alan was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class; he had also worked for W.J. Sutton in Punta Gorda, Fla., for 13 years.
Alan is survived by son, Toby Hooks of Arcadia; two brothers, Glenn Hooks of Punta Gorda, and Quentin Hooks of Bartow; sister, Margie Gardner of Georgia; and six grandchildren, Trista, Kristen, Billy, Shelby, Patrick and Madeline Hooks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Anna Hooks; wife, Mildred Grace Hooks; sons, Jimmy and Johnny Hooks; and brothers, Wendall and Robbie Hooks.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013, at AMVETS Post 60, 2846 S.W. U.S. 17, Arcadia.
