Joe Bohannan, 59, of Arcadia, Fla., passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013.

He was born Dec. 4, 1953, in Jasper, Fla. moving to Arcadia 35 years ago from Jasper.

Joe was self employed as a road construction specialist. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and just about anything outdoors. Joe loved to cook mullet and entertain his family. He was a Tampa Bay Bucks fan. Joe was the happiest when he was on the job, so much so, that he named his boat “On the Job.” He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Arcadia. He was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his beloved wife, of 42 years, Betty Sue Bohannan, of Arcadia; son, Joe Bohannan, Jr., of Sciotoville, Ohio; daughter, Betty Jo Bohannan, of Arcadia; sister, Alice Dedge, of Arcadia; and four grandchildren, Dustin Hall, Elizabeth Bohannan, Chamber Bohannan, and Cassidy Hall. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Ben Bohannan, and Martha Maude Brantley Bohannan; a brother, Ben Lewis Bohannan, and a grandson, Larry Joseph Hall.

Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. with funeral services to be conducted at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, at the chapel of Ponger-Kays-Grady Funeral Home, 50 No. Hillsborough Ave., Arcadia, FL with Rev.Ken Galloway officiating.
